PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program prepares students for a rewarding career supporting individuals who need assistance due to aging, illness, disability or recovery. Through both theory and practical training, you'll gain the essential knowledge, skills and hands-on experience required to provide high-quality, compassionate care in a variety of healthcare and community settings.

PROGRAM OUTLINE

Modules covered in the program will be:
✔ PSW Foundations
✔ Safety & Mobility
✔ Body Systems
✔ Assisting with Personal Hygiene
✔ Abuse & Neglect
✔ Household Management, Nutrition & Hydration
✔ Palliative Care
✔ Assisting with Medications
✔ Cognitive and Mental Health Problems
✔ Health Conditions
✔ Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care
✔ Communication and Professionalism
✔ Infection Prevention Control

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

In-School Theory
(Online)
400 hours of instructor led learning and support.
Supervised
Clinical Placement
200 hours in a long-term care facility and 100 hours in a community setting

PSW Final
Certification Exam
Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to take the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) PSW Final Certification Exam.
